The International TRIZ Association (MATRIZ) was established in 1997 by the founder of TRIZ G.S. Altshuller and has its roots in the TRIZ Association which was founded in Petrozavodsk, Russia in 1989.G.S. Altshuller became the first president of MATRIZ and established the structure and basic goals of the Association as well as the certification process for TRIZ specialists. MATRIZ was officially registered in 1999.
The main objectives of the Association:
- development of TRIZ as a mean of creativity promotion;
- keeping memory of TRIZ founder, Genrich S. Altshuller;
- development of methods of creative traits perfection on the basis of G.S. Altsuller’s theory;
- development of creativity enhancing methodologies based on TRIZ principals.

For the most part MA TRIZ activity deals with TRIZ specialists attestation and certification, organization of conferences, holding international TRIZ contests for schoolchildren and students, examining TRIZ methods and other materials, providing TRIZ specialists with informational support, publishing activity, keeping memory of TRIZ founder H.S. Altshuller, etc. Some other activities are planned such as organization of TRIZ training, TRIZ researchers’ training, etc.[/two_third]
Genrikh Saulovich Altshuller (Ге́нрих Сау́лович Альтшу́ллер) was born in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, USSR, 15 October 1926; died Petrozavodsk, Russia, 24 September 1998, and was a Soviet engineer, inventor, scientist, journalist and writer.
